Description: C&O in the Coal Fields is a must-have for any coal-a-holic.  With hundreds of great shots covering most of the C&O's major loading points in the Appalachians, this book will keep a modeler busy for years. The only disappointment is the lack of coverage of the 60s and later for a diesel modeler like me, but you steam fans will be drooling! --Dan Bourque
Photos: 5star.gif (1703 bytes) Crisp photos of hard-to-find subjects
Text: 4star.gif (1543 bytes) Very little actual text, great captions of all the photos
Maps and Diagrams: 5star.gif (1703 bytes) Decent maps of the coalfields.  Could be improved by showing where they are in relation to the state.  Also, maps have numbers where every coal loader was, but no legend to decipher them.
Value for the Modeler: 5star.gif (1703 bytes) A "must-have" for anyone interested in tipples during the steam era
Purchase Value: 5star.gif (1703 bytes) Very reasonable price for this many great photos
