Submitting
Material to ARM
ARM would not
be possible without the contributions of some great modelers,
photographers and writers. Thank you!
ARM is always looking for good
material. I will consider all material sent, but here are some
rules-of-thumb to get your photo(s) or article(s) published on the
site. Contact
me if you would like to contribute. Thanks!
Submitting
Photos
-
Photos must be your own work, or you
must have the rights to the photos/permission of the photographer to
use them
-
Only photos of subjects that are
related to Appalachian coal-hauling railroads will be posted
-
For model photos, the subject should
be prototypically based and represent Appalachian railroads and themes.
Consideration will be given to freelanced tipples and structures which
draw from prototypical themes and appear realistic (e.g. Brian Kelly's
structures on the C&O
Models Page)
-
Models should show a high level of
workmanship--it doesn't have to be magazine quality, but the detail and
finish should be realistic and pleasing (out-of-the-box kits with no
detailing or weathering will probably not be posted)
-
Model backgrounds should be
appropriate, either a basic gray/white/black background or scenery
representative of the Appalachians
-
All photos should be accompanied with
a description including information on the subject. Models:
manufacturer, description of work done, custom paint/decals, etc.
Prototype photos: location, date, photographer, description of train or
scene
-
All photos should be crisp with good
depth of field and decent lighting
-
Digital photos should be a minimum of
800 pixels on the longest side (1024 or larger is preferred)
-
Hard-copy photos or slides can be
mailed--please contact me via e-mail to coordinate this
Submitting
Articles or Other Material
Articles
can take many forms. In fact, I have turned several e-mails into
articles (with the author's permission, of course). Articles should
cover subjects appropriate to Appalachian coal-hauling prototypes or
modeling techniques for Appalachian models and layouts. Photos are not
required, but should be included if describing a modeling technique.
Contributors
If you are a
contributor and would like to include your e-mail for site visitors to
be able to contact you, or if you have contributed and I inadvertently
left you off the list, please contact
me. Thank you for contributing!
